How'd we get in this hand basket? ... and where are we going?

It really has gotten to the point where I dread reading the news. It's not the ever increasing body count in sensless wars that I dislike, that is just getting tedious. No, it's the way the that across the world governments everwhere are fucking over their citizens. Chielfly among them is the US. It seems that the majority of americans are willing to drink the kool-aid just as fast as the white house can serve it up. Doesn't it seem that people stopped giving a shit all the sudden and are will to put up with the authoritites abusing their power and stealing away our privacy? The feds want a total servailance soceity, they are working on ways to track every person inside thier borders. Meanwhile they are pissing off the rest of the world with wild abandon. Even Rome fell in about 200 years, people don't realise that we're on our way out. I want out before this country crumbles around our heads.
