Long weekend

What a weekend it's been. Saturday was our third show up in Burlington VT. It was a good time to be had. Ryan and his gf Alyson came up with Nick and I and we were able to chill out for a while before the show. The place we were playing at was hot as hell though because there was no ventalation at all. A few of the bands cancled so we ended up opening up the show. The set went pretty well and we even sold a few demos (gave some to the bands as well). The other bands were pretty kick ass as well.

So I didn't actually get into my bed until 3am sunday morning, and I ended up only getting about 4 hours of sleep before I to get up and head over to UNH to see Sandy. We had an awesome time yesterday going over to Portsmouth and seeing the sites. There was a vegan juice bar there that had, quite possibly, the worlds best damn soy shake. I could probably live off of those. Lots of walking around downtown, and then at the Foxrun mall ened up killing my feet, but I'll live. Luckily the rain held off until later last night, but I did have to drive home in it, which was crappy at times. I though I was going to hydroplane off of I-89 at one point, since the rain was coming down so hard that it was just pooling up on the road. I think I'm just going to take it easy today.

finally some freedom

The CS lab is now closed for the summer, and not a seond too soon. Granted it wasn't a difficult job, in fact most of the time it was barely a job at all. I'll miss the added income it gave me, but I wont miss how it ate up all my evenings for 6 weeks. Bah. Now to continue my job hunting for the rest of the summer... got to pay that tuition somehow.

Watch out.. it's ranting season

You know what's just plain dumb? The FCC? Why? Well don't you know I'm just going to tell you regardless of wether or not you want me to. So here's the deal, once upon a time, in the land of the free, their was a super bowl. Durring this particular game, the most horrific thing imagine able happened! On national television, you saw...... a breast! Holy SHIT! Run and hide, it's coming to distroy our entire civilization!! Well, needless to say, the FCC wasn't amused. They fined the piss right out of the network, and now have it on the books that can fine upto a quater of a million fucking dollars for showing anything "indesent" on TV. WTF people, you just saw a nipple! Big fucking deal,, everyone has one (two really), but watch the fuck out if they get shown on TV. Oh wait, only if your a dirty woman, because dudes can be as topless as they want.. that's still cool. In the mean time, on the rest of "safe" TV, I can watch a murder, a rape (no nipples though) and some gun fights, blood, death... the list goes on

So who gets THAT bent out of shape over a boob, while the rest of TV is just feeding our addiction to ultra-violence? It's just fucking retarded and goes on to great lengths. We're being opressed by puritanical right wing conservitives that would rather have the entire country driven to blood lust, than have them be exposed to something as repulsive as the female body. Stupid.

New site updates

So since I've been working in the lab late at night with little or no interuptions from students, I decided to make a personal site. Give it a looksy at http://cocytus.awardspace.com

Under the contact page you'll find a link a message board that I built just for the hell of it. So feel free to leave me a message.

damn it, rain

This is BS man, it's raining again. It's like the summer of constant rain around here. I don't know what the deal is, but it is a whole lot of crap. Ok enough bitching about the weather, since that is entirely out of anyones control. I've had a fairly dull week thus far, albeit it's only wednesday. I did get to see Kevin and Kevin yesterday which was cool. We watched some crazy as videos of what happens when you mix mentos and diet soda together. It's like those science fair volcanos that everyone knows about, but never built. But this is way sweeter, and likely a good deal cheaper too.

So After I got home last night, I was in the process of turning my phone off when Nick called me. He was having a 6/6/06 party at his house, so I went over and drank a few beers with him Jason, Ryan, and Nick's new roommate J-Money (can't remember his real name). It was pretty cool, Jason was telling us his war stories and stuff, and you've got to give him some credit for being able to still be so normal. After being a tacticle sniper for 3 tours, he's seen and done some pretty wild shit.

A point which he brought up last night I've been mulling over for a bit, and I'm still not totally sure what I think about it. Basically to sumerize, what he was saying is that if you look at all the bullshit, corruption, exploitation, and general fucked up underhanded shit that goes on in our government and major coporations, our entire way of life depends on it. Even though no on wants their products to be made from child labor, or in unsafe sweat shops, that the conditions that are in place now are better than they would be if left to the rule of other countries. If our coporations weren't over seas doing all this underhanded shit, and all of our products were made in the US, there is no way they could be cost competitive. Everyone would still be buying the cheapest they can get, and it would be sending all of our money out of the country. So are corporations (which I've always loved to hate) a nessisary evil for our lives. Could we really do with out them? And what is this country going to be like in 20 years, when as we speak $2.5 billion a day is being bought up by foreign companies.

Crazy weekend

So this has been a pretty whirl wind weekend, and I am suffering pretty hard in the sleep department. Sandy was able to change her ticket to come back a day earlier, which was awesome. We had a pretty good time having out with Mike and Amy, got to watch Amy shave Dave's head latter on friday too.

Then yesterday we were up in Burlington VT because I had a show to play at the odd fellows hall. Talk about odd.. there was some minor pains in our collective asses as the guy with the key to the place didn't show up untill about and hour after we go there. But we rocked out, sold a couple of the new demos, and even had a guy
and his daughter come over from NY to see us. What sucked was Shadow's head blew out his speaker cabinent (again), but at least it wasn't durring our set, heh.

So we didn't even roll into Keene untill about 2:30 am this morning. I got back up at 8:30 and started getting thing packed up to take Sandy over to UNH today. My parents helped because I could fit everything into my car in one go, and it would have bene hard to do multiple trips. But we finally found it after some confusion with directions, maps, and missing street signs. I bet she's going to have a good tiem there, it's a great campus. My parents and I stopped at this vegan resturant on the way back, and I had some kick ass nori maki sushi and some miso soup. And now, for some long over due sleep.
