Gnome Dock (like OSX dock) With Physics Engine for Ubuntu/Linux!

This rocks, I haven't actually checked it out yet (since I'm a KDE man), but I know some people (Kevin) that may be interested in this.

"Akamaru is a simple, but fun, physics engine prototype. It is amazing to use, and easy to install. The best eye candy since Xgl/Compiz "

Is your Windows systems slow to log-off or shutdown?

Microsoft has a utility called UPHClean which helps unload the user session quickly and completely at log-off or shutdown. I've tried it and it's significantly reduced the amount of time it takes to shutdown my laptop at the end of the day.

Youth Crime In America DECLINING: Video Games To Blame?

I found this on Digg.com and thought I'd share it:

An 11 year decline in youth violence has led the U.S. Department of Justice to proclaim, "the offending rates for 14-17 year olds reached the lowest levels ever recorded." The lowest levels ever recorded. In other words, the PlayStation era has, in fact, produced the most non-violent kids ever. From October 2005, but it needs repeating.

Rule by Fear

This is an awesome article that I found which describes the type of mind games the government is employing to keep themselves with limitless power.

Bad start, good finish

Yesterday was the 4th of July, and I guess that means something in the USA. What it meant for me yesterday morning was an incredibly long and painful family reunion type thing at my uncles house. Natuarally, my Mom HAD to be the first one there, and we ended up getting there like 10mins before people were even supposed to arrive. I have no idea why she's always compeled to be the first person to these types of things because NO ONE in the rest of the family has ever been on time for anything, ever. So there was a lot of stilling around, waiting, idle chatter about inane topics which I couldn't have cared any less about... and this went on for a full four hours. It was excrutiating, by the end I was about ready to give myself a lombotomy with a power drill.

But, I escapped with my brains intact and was able to go see Sandy at UNH last night, which was at least 13 million times cooler than hanging around with relatives. Granted I had to wait a little while for her to get back from the picknic that she went on with some other of the McNaire kids, but I would have waited even longer. We were able to walk down to the fields and saw the fireworks up close which was pretty awesome. They had a good display, which I'm fairly certain was better than anything Keene would have done (I didn't get to see Keene's this year, because they went and shot them off on the 3rd, which is just retarded). Still I'm gald I got to see Sandy even if it was only for a little while.

Global fucking warming!

Blah, it's pretty warm out today, and I'm not to thrilled about it. I'm not the kind of guy that likes a whole lot of heat in the first place, I mean I am in Perpetual Winter after all. However after watching the movie that Al Gore made yesterday, it's got me pretty bummed out. The way things are heading it's only going to get worse, unless the ol' US of A wakes up and realizes that scientists ARE in fact smarter than politicians. Basically anyone that doesn't agree with the theory of global warming is either ignorant of the fundamentals or has a vested interest against implementing change. But seriously people, don't drive when you can walk, don't leave lights on if your not using them, stop being so wasteful. Even this fact was pointed out, and  I admit I do this all the time: don't just throw out junk mail, make them stop sending it to you in the first place. You never stop to think about all the paper and chemicals that are used just to  send you a bunch of crap about credit cards and whatnot. And for those of you that are feeling really ambitious, by a hybrid car, invest in renewable energy, and write your state representatives. We elect them to do our bidding, not to be put at their mercy.
